Ear, nose and throat are connected cavities, which is why one specialty holds all three: a chronically blocked nose can show up in the ear, and repeated tonsillitis can weigh on a child’s sleep and breathing. When a complaint keeps returning to the same place, this is the specialty that looks at all three together.

  • A child who breathes through the mouth at night, does not respond when called, or is late to speak.

What the visit looks like

The examination uses a light source and an otoscope, sometimes completed by a thin flexible nasal endoscope passed after an anaesthetic spray. The procedure is brief and shows what cannot be seen from outside.

The hearing test (audiogram) is not always done in the same room or on the same day; it may need a separate appointment. Ask the practice in advance so you do not have to come back twice.

  3. Open the practitioner or clinic profile: address, services, and how they take bookings.

  4. Pick your slot. Some practitioners work in fixed time slots, others hand out queue numbers for the day — the app shows which one each of them uses.

  5. Confirm. The appointment appears in the app, together with your queue number if the practitioner works that way.

  6. Turn up at the time or the number shown. Consultations are paid at the clinic. If something comes up, cancel in the app ahead of time so the place goes to someone else.

For a child who is late to speak, two paths often run in parallel: a hearing assessment with the ENT specialist and a language assessment with a speech therapist — a separate specialty in the Maouidi list.

Common questions

Why is three weeks the figure quoted for hoarseness?

Because hoarseness after an infection or vocal strain usually settles within days; lasting weeks justifies looking at the vocal cords directly. It is a timing marker, not a diagnosis.

Is the hearing test done during the consultation?

It depends on the practice: some are equipped on site, others schedule it afterwards. Ask when you book.

My child gets one ear infection after another — is that ENT?

Yes. Repeated ear infections or fluid behind the eardrum are among the first reasons children are referred to ENT, especially when they come with reduced attention to sound.
